Encore Volunteers Appreciated for Helping Solicit Donations and Making a Home Sweet Home for one Client in Need

During National Volunteer Appreciation Week last month, volunteers at the Encore Resale Shop were showered with special treats each day delivered by David Lawrence Center team members who personally thanked them for their time, talent and treasures that make a significant impact on the lives of those we serve.

One invaluable way that Encore volunteers make a big impact, is helping the store obtain furniture and house wares on donation. When an item is donated vs. consigned it doubles the revenue from the sale price and that means double the investment back to David Lawrence Center programs. Whether they're telling their friends about donation opportunities, selling the tax benefits, encouraging would-be consignors to become donors, or helping spread the word about our mission through their volunteerism, one thing remains true...we couldn't do it without volunteer support.

Recently Encore volunteers were given the ultimate show of appreciation when they witnessed firsthand how donations could benefit a client in need. When a formerly homeless female client became new tenant in one of the Center's 24 affordable housing units, Encore was able to provide all the essentials she needed to build a home sweet home for herself and start a new life. The unit was furnished with a bed, couch, chair, TV and nightstand - all provided on donation by people like you, garnered from the hard work of our volunteers.
