David Lawrence Centers adult prevention education services focus on substance abuse education, information dissemination, alternatives for substance abuse, problem identification and referral and community-based outreach activities.
This monthly prevention program educates people who have been convicted of drunk driving about the risks involved in their destructive behavior. Judges court order offenders to the Alcohol and Drug Impact Panel to hear presentations from people whose lives have been severely impacted by a drunk driving accident either through the loss of a loved one or through physical impairment.
This parenting program is designed for parents who may struggle with substance abuse, addiction, criminal behavior or other stressors that are impacting their ability to parent. The Make Parenting a Pleasure Class is a six session psychoeducational series designed to help high stressed parents learn the skills they need to parent more effectively.
Make Parenting a Pleasure includes education on:
- Taking Care of Ourselves
- Improving Communications
- Effective Coping Skills
- Developing Consistencies
- Understanding Positive and Negative Behaviors
- Understand and Handling Stress
- Managing Anger
This prevention program is offered in Naples and Immokalee.
