What: David Lawrence Center is proud to co-sponsor the Autism and Co-Existing Mental Health Disorders Conference with our community partners. Autism is a complex neurological disorder that impacts 1 in 150 children today. It has gained much attention in the media recently. Awareness of early warning signs, early interventions based on evidence based research, and comprehensive educational strategies in school and home are keys to improved outcomes. Autism spectrum disorders can also occur with mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, ADHD and Bipolar disorder. This conference will help the audience to understand the nature of these co-existing conditions and how they present in an individual with an autism spectrum disorder.
This conference will help families and professionals determine how to distinguish characteristics that are autism related versus those associated with co-existing mental health disorders and provide information on evidence-based treatment options, and school related supports for successful inclusion.
In addition to sponsoring the event, the David Lawrence Center will provide CEUs for mental health professionals, social workers, psychologists, registered nurses and marriage and family therapists.
